They are alot of Free Alternatives to BackupBuddy. Backing up of your blog is fundamentally important. In the past few years, BackupBuddy has given over 100,000 websites absolute and sleek control over their database management.
Lunched in 2005, with series of multiple improvements over previous versions can justify the high price tag slammed on the premium version of BackupBuddy. I am not against this, a charge is always the reward for quality. But, if you can’t afford the price tag, don’t feel sad, I have highlighted some Free Alternatives to BackupBuddy.
They are alot of Free Alternatives to BackupBuddy out there but these five look promising.
Backup WordPress Plugin
Backup WordPress gives you the option to carry out complete site backups or just the database. Once you initiate the back up, you get an email notification upon completion.
However, the drawback is that your backup is stored in your server, should your server get crashed, you will obviously loose your backups and the original website. Storing your backups in the same server as your website isn’t a good practice, but if you trust your web host well enough, they why not Backup WordPress?
UpDraftPlus
Updraft is a relatively new backup plugin for WordPress. It is very easy to use. It supports local backups as well as remote backups. The remote destinations currently available in UpDraftPlus are Amazon S3, DropBox, Google Drive, FTP and Email. Files and databases can have separate schedules. Also, failed uploads are automatically resumed/retried. This is a really good feature for webmasters who want to live a stress free work life.
Backup Scheduler
The Backup Scheduler is a Free Alternative to BackupBuddy. This plugin allows you to plan your backups, just as the name suggests. It allows local backups as well as sending backups to a simple remote destination via FTP. Support for email notification and deletion of old backups is also very much available in this plugin.
It is a simple plugin with a nice and easy interface. It supports local backups as well sending backups to a remote destination via FTP.
The interface of Backup Scheduler is extremely easy to understand, even if you awoke from a terrible dream, it wouldn’t take long before you walk your way through the powerful and easy-to-use GIU of Backup Scheduler.
BackwpUp
Just like UpDraftPlus, the backup plugins has support for local and remote backups . In addition to supporting standard destinations like FTP, Dropbox and Amazon, this plugin also supports Rackspace, Google Drive, MS Azure and Sugar Sync. But, I think this plugin won’t appeal to beginners, it’s usage is a little bit confusing with a different approach to configuration. But once, you can get acquainted with the way it is designed to wrok, it becomes a beast and rewards you for the time spent.
WP-DB-Backup
WP-DB-Backup is a simple and effective plugin which takes care of the database backups only, so you have to backup the files manually. WP-DB-Backup allows you to easily backup your core WordPress database tables. You may also backup other tables in the same database. This plugin hasn’t been supported in the last two years, but I once used and the experience wasn’t all that bad. It is always important to choose plugins that still have a good support. If you still see any of the above four Free Alternatives to BackupBuddy not appealing to you, there is nothing wrong in trying WP-DB-Backup.
