Note: If you have difficulties trying to connect Samsung Galaxy S4 to PC, you can use the AirDroid. One of my commenters left a hint about the app so I did some dig-up. Though I haven’t tried it yet but a quick review proves to be best alternative. I will have a tutorial on it once I am not too lazy.

Try ruining it with administrator rights. What operating system are you using on your PC?

I think that would be the best alternative, I was actually going to suggest wiping the OS. But since AirDroid works for you, it wouldn't be a bad idea if you stick with it.

Hi Aesthete18,
Uninstall the Kies, re-boot your PC and try to re-install Kies with administrator rights.
Reboot your phone and try to connect, if still unsuccessful, backup your phone and perform a hard-reset then try to re-connect again.

If that doesn't work also, try using a new generic USB cable.
Keep me posted please..

Hi Arturo,
When you installed the drivers from the Samsung website did you run it as administrator? If you didn't, uninstall the drivers, re-boot your PC, then right-click the driver installer and choose the option "run as administrator". Reboot your system and Phone, then connect.
If that doesn't work, try disabling USB debugginng. Application > Development > USB Debugging. Turn it off when not connected to USB.
If it still doesn't work, try using another port.

kies does not want to install, it says you need to install or reinstall media feature pack , please help
Aesthete18
Yup. I don't think Kies is worth the trouble. Thanks for trying to help.

I've tried tried the generic cable and even tried reinstalling my USB drivers. Nothing works. I've given up on Kies. Thanks for trying to help, but I'm just going to rely on AirDroid.
Aesthete18
I've been running on administrator rights this whole time (By right-clicking on the start button, it shows open all users and explore all users. That means I'm running on administrator, correct?)
I don't want to hard-reset my phone, I just got it a week ago.
I will try the generic USB cable, people tend to have luck with that.
WIll keep you posted. Thank you.

I can't seem to connect to Kies, I've tried everything that I've read. On Kies it just stays on the connecting page and whenever I plug in the phone to the PC it says there's a problem occured with installing the hardware. This happens even if I install the driver manually. Do you know any way around this?
Arturo
I downloaded and installed the drivers off Samsung's website but I am unable to connect my Verizon Wireless S4 to my PC. After connecting the S4 to the PC the phone simply starts charging itself and no prompt appears. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers and I've tried connecting my S4 to Windows 7 & Windows XP but I get the same results. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all, the best solution i found was :-
First install Wondershare MobileGo from pay store on to your S4.
Then install the Wondershare MobileGo for your PC ( i used Win 8 as my OS)
Turn on USB debugging from your phone.
Now, you can connect your phone and PC via USB cable, and the wondershare PC app will auto-detect and install required USb drivers and your phone will be connected to your PC.

Hi
I’ve installed Start BlueStacks on my PC, I’ve got a Samsung S4, I would like to copy all my games and apps to my PC as a backup. I’ve had the misfortunate pleasure of already losing all my apps and games when my phone had to go in for repairs, do you have any wisdom for me.

Hello Raynette,
If I understand what you mean, you want to make a backup of your phone. It’s a pretty easy process that can be achieved with MobileGO for Android.
You can take a look at this article for further information. I had a giveaway on the program, but its pretty cheap to quickly lay your hands on it.
