Neuroscientists have discovered the part of the brain that controls hunger; turning it on or off can manage how we eat and could potentially end world-wide obesity epidermic.
Are we just scratching the surface of what science can achieve with the biological system? They have been reported milestone reached in the fight against aging and of-course there was also a recent publication of how eating Bacons could make you live longer.
This time around, there is another twist, scientist claim to have discovered a way to stop hunger as well as ignite over-eating in a biological system using lasers passing through your eyeballs. The part of the brain which controls hunger has been discovered and can be turned off or on using lasers. This technological marvel is exclusively to mice only.
A group of modified mice were used to carry out this research. The neuroscientist targeted specific neurons on the group of modified mice to show their reaction with light. In one group of mice, light would deactivate that part of the brain and in the other group of mice; light would activate it as well. Thus targeting that part of the brain with a laser passing through the eyes of the mice gave the neuroscientist the capacity to effectively activate or disable that part of the mice brain.

In the real sense, what this means is that, when the neurons were shut down by the neuroscientist, the mice refused to eat regardless of the nature of the hunger and when the neurons where turned on, they eat continuously without any desire to stop.

Really, it’s going to be fun. I don’t want to see it go mainstream though.

Science and tech is growing so fast. Some times I wonder how this world will look like in 50 years from now. Nice discovery though

Don’t you think 50-years is way over the top? 30-years from now can really bring jaw-breaking innovations.
