By default, all links and hyperlinks in Blogger opens in your current window. If you to force links in Blogger to open in new tab, then this tutorial is for you. I also have a tutorial that explains the ways to add Facebook like box to blogger.
Force Links In Blogger To Open In New Tab
1. Login to your Blogger account
2. Navigate to TEMPLATE > Edit TEMPLATE
3. Search for the <head> tag in your template’s code.
Hint: Use Ctrl+F to find the code.
4. Copy the code below and Paste it below the tag
<base target=’_blank‘/>
5. Hit the save button and you are done.
This is how you force links in Blogger to open in new tab. I hope this tutorial was helpful, here is another guide that will show you how to remove blogger sidebar and create a full width page. You definitely want to check it out.

Thank you for the tutorial. It works great, but I noticed that even when I click on the Next or Previous page link for my blog a new tab is opened each time. I currently have eight pages to my blog and each page opens in a new tab when I click on the Next Page link. Is there anyway to fix that?
Nosa E Nosa
Hello Kat,
All link on your blog will open in new tab if you implemented the tutorial.
Do have a nice day.

Thanks for that bit of code to get my links within my blog to open in new tabs, it was so easy to do. However, I now need to know how to fix a ‘Home’ button to show at all times on my google blog, even on the pages that open on the internet from the links in my blog. this is to allow me to always have a quick way back to my blog home page.
I look forward to your solution.
Many thanks again
Roy

Hi guys, I’ve got a “recent posts” section on my site that shows my blog feed, but when clicked on, it opens in this tiny area on my site and I would like it to open in a new window, essentially my blog page. Any ideas? I’ve searched for days and I’m stumped. Thanks

The intent was right but the code was poorly formatted. If other users are like me they will not have noticed for four weeks (!) that the bad code created an output of html code at th3 top of the blog page.
This is the correct code:

Hi thank you for this tutorial. I followed the instructions, but when I pasted the code, I received this message: Error parsing XML, line 5, column 17: The value of attribute “target” associated with an element type “base” must not contain the ‘<' character.
It hasn't worked for me. What should I do? Your response would be so appreciated.
Patricia Kiyono
I got this message too. I haven’t seen a response about how to fix this.

Hello i want only one or 2 pages to open in new tab what can i do???
saikiran
Not yet working please check once again and edit it
Miriam
It doesn’t work. I have no idea how to save chages. the only “save” button that exists is “save template” but when I leave template section I keep getting warning “changes haven’t been saved”. When checking links still open in same tab. Any suggestions?
Jason
Type the command in manually instead of copying and pasting from the website. The apostrophe’s are the issue. You can also just delete them and retype them and it will save.
