Infinix has been doing well on its Hot series of phones, the company ditched 5-inch display on its popular smartphone series and it looks like the death of 5-inch smartphones is eminent which of course is a shame.
Infinix Hot 3 doesn’t have block-busting specs, but it still mangages to be smartphone worthy of praise. The smartphone is designed to satisfy budget users with the best of experience and stability.
Infinix Hot 3 Full Technical Specifications
Now enough with the rambling and on with the actual Infinix Hot 3 review, and the reason you clicked this article.
Design & Display
The Hot 3 smartphone sees a radical change from its predecessor. As soon as you hold the device, you notice that it is light and feels premium. You won’t believe that it is a N26,000 (+-150usd) smartphone.
It comes in a plastic case. The headphone socket and microUSB port are placed at the top of the phone. The volume rocker and power button retains their traditional right spots.
The capacitive buttons; menu, home and back are easy to spot on the display. There is nothing phenomenon in terms of design, the speaker is in its usual annoying back spot and of course, you have got the primary camera and LED flash just at the top, back of the phone. The Camera does protrude by a few millimetres, and that doesn’t look like a big problem like what rocked the Infinix Zero 3 camera.
Display:
The display is a 5.5-inch HD IPS unit and is pretty legible under direct sunlight. Overall, there is no much to complain about in this aspect, the phone looks fresher in flesh than in photos.
Software And Performance
Infinix Hot 3 comes with the dated Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS baked with Infinix custom UX, the XUI.
It is a shame the smartphone doesn’t come with Android 6.0 out of the box, but users would be consoled knowing that Android 6.0 Marshmallow update would happen like a breeze. However, I believe OEM’s should consolidate their effort so users get to use their smartphone without sweating over an OS update from the first day after purchase.
Overall, the XUI doesn’t disappoint even when running on a 1 GB RAM device paired with 32bit CPU. Specs-wise, the Hot 3 rocks a MediaTek MT6580 quad-core processor. The 2GB variant of the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 SoC. It is not clear why the 2GB variant is a scarce commodity in Nigeria, but I hope it doesn’t vanish entirely like other Infinix smartphones with 1GB & 2GB variants.
On our test lab where we carried out the review of Infinix Hot 3, the Antutu benchmark score was rated 23911 as seen on the image above. This is alright for a super budget smartphone. Despite the score, the Hot 3 was still capable of processing different kind of information you need to access in less than a blink of an eye.
Camera
The phone has 8MP primary camera paired with LED flash and a 2MP selfie snapper. For a phone at the price, the camera setup is worth appreciating. More pixels don’t always mean better picture quality. High-level companies like Samsung have learned this, the Galaxy S7 camera comes with 13MP sensor compared with the 16MP camera on the Galaxy S6 and it doesn’t make the S6 a better camera phone than its successor.
With decent light conditions, you can expect crisp and detailed pictures from smartphones with low megapixels sensors that is equipped with the right camera features. Infinx Hot 3 does score some extra point for its pretty nice camera.
The camera app comes with some handy pre-defined settings and a few manual options to kick start your photography life.
Here are some shots take with the Infinix Hot 3.
Battery Life
Infinix Hot 3 retains its traditional removable battery design language. The phone is packed with a 3000mAh rated battery with quick charging technology.
I have my reservation for removable batteries but a lot of folks will prefer this option in Nigeria since you can easily swap batteries as the power situation continues to decorate.
So all in all, the Infinix Hot 3 is a nice phone if you can neglect the few downsides. Though I have spent a short period of time with the phone, I am very sure that an extended usage of the phone won’t change the constitution of my mind by a large margin.
Frankly, after reading the Infinix Hot 3 review onTechRez, I recommend you to try it out; it would be such a waste if you do no test this baby yourself. After all, the fact that it is the perfect budget smartphone for enthusiast is incontestable.

Instead of buying this Infinix, add small money and buy the TECNO boom j8. With 2GB RAM and HiOS.

I am really confused on what to get, I lost my Zero3 and I don’t want to spend much of smartphones right now. I was looking at the Gionee M5 Mini, but it looks the hot 3 isn’t bad too.

Try out the TECNO boom J8 with 2GB RAM, 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, it comes with a boom headphone.
