Infinix Hot S Review
The Infinix Hot S does a lot of things right, it shows that Infinix Mobility really listens and trying all it can to cater for a wide range of users with different appeal to specs and design.
Infinix Hot S is what the Zero 3 ought be in terms of design element, while the Zero 3 is still the most powerful Infinix Smartphone to date, Inifnix Hot S brings a new kind of energy into the Nigeria mobile market.
Infinix Hot S comes with a 5.2 inch IPS HD display that really makes it stand-out among the clutter of the so-called 5.5-inch smartphones that has saturated the market. It rocks a 1.3Ghz chipset backed by 2GB RAM. This makes the device super-fast, with maximum capacity to handle multi-tasking without hassle. It’s a 4G enabled smartphone, with standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections, including support for dual SIM and microSD card.
Infinix Hot S Unboxing
The smartphone is carefully packed inside a nice looking box paired with standard accessories, you will find the earpiece, microUSB cable and manual inside the pack. There is no extra case available in the box, but the phone comes with OTG support.
Design & Display
Infinix Hot S is designed with a 5.2 IPS HD panel, it has a resolution of 720 X 1200. The smartphone weighs only 143g, it is 8mm thick and comes with soft round edges. The metallic body adds an extra beauty to the device. You will notice the large 8MP front facing camera that provides better wide angle shot. There is no LED notification light, but what’s more annoying is the function keys present just below the display.
The engineers decided to create only one tray on the phone, you have options for dual SIM and/or microSD card. The dual speaker grills at the bottom of the phone also makes it stand out.
The Fingerprint sensor is nicely placed at the back of phone, just below the 13MP primary camera. To the best of my knowledge, the encryption element works like a charm. In between the primary camera and the finger print scanner, you will spot the dual LED flash.
The power button and volume rocker retains their traditional spot at the right frame of the phone.
Storage, Performance & Battery
Infiinix Hot S spots a 16GB on-board storage, but you are left with 10GB free space when you start using the device for the first time. There are a lot of pre-loaded apps, including infinix in-house apps custom skin, XOS. This is not much of an issue as you can free up space by removing unwanted apps.
Infinix Hot S runs pretty fast, there is really little or nothing to complain about. The 2GB RAM and Octa-core SoC ensures there is no lag in multitasking. Gamers will appreciate the Mali-T720 for better graphic rendering.
Infinix Hot S has 3000mAh non-removable battery, it’s possible to charge the smartphone to 100% in about two hours. When fully charged you can get up to 9-hours on heavy usage.
Software
An upgraded Infinix XUI now called XOS comes with a lot of new features. Firstly, the homescreen has a handful of apps, swiping to the left will also reveal a new set of apps. There is a menu bottom on the homescreen and tapping it will take you to a list of all the apps in alphabetical order.
The notification tray has also be revamped. There is the X Account, X Club, X Hide, X Manager and a a couple of other Infinix wares available on the smartphone. Needless to say the Infinix Hot S runs on Android 6.0? Well, that’s the reality!
Camera
Riding on the success of the Zero 3, Infinix Hot S has got this camera locked down. Images taken with the 13MP primary snapper was super cute. It comes with manual photo mode which was first seen on the Zero 3. The front-facing camera also has the capacity to shoot really cool seflie with impressive composition. Check out our seflie below and be the judge..
Here are some shot taken with the phone.
Should I Buy Infinix Hot S?
Of course, the Hot S is value for money. I am not going to stress this, but it is truly worth every penny you spend on it.
